Always for Fun

The county of Kent in England has a close affinity with the traditional Punch and Judy puppet show. Two producers of Mr. Punch and his cast, lived in Kent: Fred Tickner, who made Muffin the Mule and Wal Kent, who made the puppets in Tony Hancock’s film: The Punch and Judy Man.

At its heyday, Punch and Judy were often seen on the sands at Ramsgate and Margate, Paul Jackson has performed at the Cynque port Walmer Castle at New Romney as well as the seaside towns of Whitstable and Eastbourne. The Martello Tower, Eastbourne witnessed, on two separate occasions, performances of the world’s largest Punch and Judy show, scripted and voiced by Paul.

Kent has many splendid beaches, Margate, Ramsgate, Herne bay included and who knows, with the changing weather,  a quality Punch and Judy show may soon return to the Garden of England’s shores
