Mr Punch in East Sussex

The Brighton Belle was a named train, originally operated by the Southern Railway which ran from London’s Victoria station to Brighton, on the Sussex coast. It was the world’s only electric all-Pullman service and it ran daily from 1st January 1933 until 30th April 1972.

Passengers’ day tripping to the seaside were joined by Mr. Punch and Paul Jackson as they set up their stall on Brighton’s Beach and entertained the appreciative crowds.

Mr Punch in West Sussex

Christmas time in Billingshurst and the local Rotary are out in force staging their annual fayre. Our Punch and Judy show presented the Christmas Edition of Mr.Punch’s show several times but alas, with no snow it became a no show and the drums(!) positioning a puppet show next to the thump, thump, thump of a drum-only ‘band’ proved intolerable and Mr.Punch retired deaf. Any event is enhanced by the appearance of a large red-and-white stripey theatre, the postures lure the crowds and the little kiddies can’t wait to hear the authentic squeak of Mr. Punch’s voice as he climbs to stairs to begin his performance.
